Parenting children with trauma histories is rewarding, difficult, and demanding all at the same time. Foster care, kinship, and adoptive parenting bring new experiences and challenges which may affect the child in care and the entire family system. Working in a system that is itself traumatized impacts our overall health and well-being if we are not mindful of self-care. This training addresses the Cost of Caring and how to effectively manage secondary trauma in order to protect ourselves from burnout.
