Healing Roots ~ Growing Wings provides intensive educational and therapeutic support to foster and/or adoptive families. We meet with the parents for 1 ½ hours weekly, either in person or virtually, for 4-6 months so we can individualize our education and intervention for them. Our program has 12 foundational concepts that provide practical tools to help with daily life, explain the impacts of trauma, and ways to help process their child’s past for a hopeful future. We offer emotional support by being a listening ear and helping with their perceptions.

What makes Healing Roots ~ Growing Wings unique is our combined experiences from two different perspectives: a foster/adopt mom and a therapist. Katrina was adopted through the foster care system and is now a mom of 6 kids, 4 of whom have been adopted through foster care. Kristin is a therapist trained in the Neurosequential Model with Dr. Bruce Perry; several models of play therapy that include Theraplay, Child Centered Play Therapy, and Synergetic Play Therapy; and is a school psychologist who is familiar with the IEP process and school systems.
