Last week, the Nevada Institute for Children's Reach and Policy (NICRP) and the Children's Advocacy Alliance put together an event that advocates the needs of children and strengthens families across the state. The event focuses on key areas such as school readiness, children’s physical and mental health, and child safety and security. Raise the Future participated in this event, alongside other organizations, to raise awareness and promote the well-being of our children.
Raise the Future’s Role at Children’s Week
At Raise the Future, we believe every young person deserves to go through life knowing they have a caring adult by their side. Our mission is to connect youth in foster care with loving, stable families. During Children’s Week, we collaborated with community partners, families, and legislators to share about our programs and the work we do.
Key Involvement Highlights
Over two days, we had 15 meetings with different legislators. Our Vice President of Programs Jessica Roe and CEO Ann Ayers spoke about the need to support youth lingering within the foster care system, and our post-adopt families.
During the week we also set-up a table where we met with community partners, and families to share about our work and provided multiple resources. Our team took part in various activities throughout the week, including wellness sessions, art workshops, and press conferences. These experiences equipped our team with valuable new skills and tools to better support children.
Looking Ahead
Children’s Week was an opportunity for Raise the Future to amplify its message about the critical importance of supporting youth in foster care. We remain committed to creating lasting change for all of Nevada's children.
