Denver (April 10, 2025)—Raise the Future, CBS Colorado (KCNC-TV), and 97.3 KBCO are once again coming together to bring awareness and action to the lives of youth in foster care through A Day for Wednesday’s Child, airing Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 5:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. MDT on CBS Colorado and streaming on CBSColorado.com.
This annual day-long broadcast event is dedicated to spotlighting Colorado youth waiting in foster care, celebrating families formed through adoption and guardianship, and showcasing the life-changing work of Raise the Future. The day will feature touching stories of youth currently in need of permanent, loving homes, along with inspiring success stories of families who’ve grown through adoption.
CBS Colorado news anchor Mekialaya White will host the coverage throughout the day, including during CBS Colorado Morning News (5:00–7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.), CBS Colorado News at Noon, and the afternoon and evening newscasts (4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 10 p.m.).
CBS Colorado and 97.3 KBCO will also encourage viewers and listeners to donate online or by phone and to learn more about how they can help connect youth in foster care with supportive, lasting families.
“A Day for Wednesday’s Child is one of the most meaningful programs we support each year,” said Kristine Strain, VP News Director and Station Manager of CBS Colorado. “It’s a day of hope, connection, and community—and a powerful reminder that every child deserves a permanent, loving family. We are proud to partner with Raise the Future and KBCO on this mission each and every year.”
97.3 KBCO added: “We’re honored to support A Day for Wednesday’s Child once again this year. It’s a privilege to help amplify the voices of these incredible youth and bring awareness to the importance of permanent family connections. Through our partnership with CBS Colorado and Raise the Future, we hope to inspire our listeners to take action and be part of something truly meaningful.”
“Every child deserves a lifelong connection with someone who believes in them,” said Ann Ayers, CEO of Raise the Future. “This day is more than just a broadcast—it’s a call to love.
