On Wednesday, November 10, 2021, we hosted a virtual event to celebrate National Adoption Month and increase public awareness about the work of Raise the Future. The event was hosted by Jamie Moyer (Raise the Future Board Chair) and featured remarks from Raise the Future's CEO, Ann Ayers.

The livestream included a message from David Eaton, one of Raise the Future's Mission Ambassadors. David was featured on CBS Denver’s Wednesday’s Child in the 1980s. He entered foster care at a young age and was adopted twice; however, both of David's adoptions ended in dissolution — meaning that he returned to foster care. David never connected with a permanent family, and he aged out of the system at age 18. Today, he is passionate about Raise the Future's work to support the caring adults who show up for youth in foster care. David believes that if his early childhood caregivers had received better support, the connection would have endured and he would not have aged out of the system. David shares his story with the hope of changing the future for youth in foster care today.
